When: 7.30pm on Monday 5 October 2009
Where: Dulcimer, 567 Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester M21 0AE

We’d like to welcome Seattle’s Telekinesis to this fair city! Their self-titled debut album is one of the best things we’ve heard in recent years, and what’s more they’re bringing two great supports with them: The Rosebuds and Thomas J Speight.

Telekinesis is Seattle’s Michael Benjamin Lerner. He signed to Merge Records earlier this year, and shortly afterward released debut album Telekinesis!. Recorded in September of 2008, the album was produced, mixed, and engineered with the help of Chris Walla (guitarist for Death Cab For Cutie), recording one song per day on analogue tape.

On tour, Lerner is usually joined by a three-piece backing band (pictured above) – but this time round, he’s recruited The Rosebuds. The fellow Merge Recording artists, from Raleigh, NC, will also play a set.

London-based Thomas J Speight, meanwhile, has been personally invited by Lerner to open the show.

This show takes place at Dulcimer, Manchester’s celebrated ‘folk bar’ in central Chorlton. Regular buses (85 and 86) run to Chorlton from the city centre, plus the 23 and 23A from Didsbury and West Didsbury and the 168 from Fallowfield. We recommend using GMPTE’s JourneyPlanner to arrange your trip.

Tickets are available from the bar, Piccadilly Records, www.ticketline.co.uk and on 0161 832 1111.

All shows are 18+ unless otherwise stated.
