We’re delighted to be working with Chad Valley for the first time – with special guest Hudson Scott!

Hugo Manuel has been releasing music under the name Chad Valley since 2010. A longtime signee of the influential Cascine Records, Manuel will release his third full-length album in May 2018, following his sophomore album, Entirely New Blue, which saw him traverse the world many times over touring his impressive and mesmerising one-man show.

Taking inspiration from his constant touring and nomadic life (the upcoming record was recorded at home in Oxford between tours), the upcoming record is a ode to lost loves, heartbreak and young love… everything that makes pop music pop.

Tour support comes from Hudson Scott. South East London-based up-and-coming artist Hudson Scott is seemingly a man of many contradictions. Having worked extensively as a multi-instrumentalist with established acts such as Foals, TEED and Songhoy Blues, yet only recently debuting his own songwriting skill; he developed his musical craftsmanship alongside a salt of the earth day job as a carpenter. He comes across as a gruff realist, yet his music is bursting with emotion and poetic metaphor. His dirty-knees builder front camouflages his mastery of music and jazz theory, and leaves the listener unprepared for his unashamedly poppy attitude. But perhaps it is precisely these supposedly conflicting aspects in his persona that make his music so multifaceted and moving.

Presenting his new, standout single Triangle on eclectic, South London-grown record label squareglass, Scott once again proves his exceptional synth pop sensibilities. With clever production touches courtesy of Scott’s long-time collaborators Oli Bayston (Boxed In) and Duncan Tootill (Little Cub), the track marries a rough-around-the-edges sound with hyper-catchy, pop writing. The instrumental, brass-rife arrangement is largely played by Scott himself, and hints at a rich array of stylistic references, described by the artist as ‘a middle ground between 80s afrobeat and the emotionally affecting songwriting of Arthur Russell’.
