We’re delighted to be working with C Duncan again – this time, at Band on the Wall.

Delving into more expansive and experimental territories, Glasgow’s prodigious talent C Duncan released his second album The Midnight Sun last October to critical acclaim. Blending electronic elements and sweeping synth sounds with his signature layered vocals and dreamy instrumentation, the follow up to his Mercury Prize nominated debut Architect, won huge praise from the likes of the Guardian, The Sunday Times, Mojo, Uncut and The Quietus.

With a brand new and bigger live show in tow, C Duncan has blossomed into a fully accomplished live artist. Having fast-tracked from playing basement venues alone to selling out 900-capacity venues within a year, his live show has come along hugely. Now joined by a four-piece band, they provide the perfect backdrop for his hushed vocals and help execute the plentiful harmonies with mesmerising precision. After completing a live run later this month, the band will support Elbow on their mammoth UK run, before another set of headline dates in May.

Tour support comes from Modern Studies. Modern Studies are a chamber pop band from Perthshire-via-Glasgow-via-Yorkshire. Their quietly experimental landscape songs are played on analogue synths, cello, double bass, drums, guitars, a wine-glass orchestra and, at the creaking centre of things, a Victorian pedal harmonium.

The band came together in early 2015, when Glasgow songwriter Emily Scott recruited old pals and collaborators Pete Harvey (King Creosote, The Leg), Joe Smillie (Call to Mind, boss of Glasgow’s The Glad Cafe) and Rob St. John.

Opening the show is Manchester duo We Were Strangers, who have already played alongside Tiny Ruins, Rozi Plain, De Montevert, Kathryn Williams, Lucy & The Caterpillar, Young War and Blue Rose Code. Their song I Believe has already chalked up over 15,000 plays.
