We’re delighted to be promoting our first show at Manchester Jewish Museum – an intimate show with Karima Francis!

Blackpool-born singer-songwriter Karima Francis is back fresher than ever, with her third and so far strongest studio album, Black, produced by Dan Austin (Kid Wave/club kuru/Jimi Goodwin) – and it’s clear to see Francis has not wasted a second of her two-year break since her second album, The Remedy.

A lot has happened in Karima’s life since she first ensnared listeners in 2009, with her debut album, The Author, and live shows so emotionally charged and laid-bare, you could hear a pin drop. Anyone who has ever seen Francis live will speak of the emotive and spellbinding performance she delivers with her immaculate, but raw vocals that often lead the audience to compare her to the late great Jeff Buckley.

The execution of this new album raises the bar on every level and it is testament to the strength of Karima’s writing that what comes across most powerfully on this record is the quality of the new songs, yet these were recorded in just three weeks!

Karima’s singing – a sound that hits you with that unlikely combination of vulnerability and ferocity – has never sounded so confident, and her lyrics are unambiguous: rhapsodising about life, love and romantic and sexual longing.

Black will be available to download from 16 October (physical release TBC).

Main support comes from Aron Harper-Robinson. The songwriting and musical skills of Aron Harper-Robinson have long entranced and beguiled audiences the length and breadth of England. His ability to give expression to our deep-rooted fears and passions has been developed over many years travelling through England, Europe then the hinterlands and vast cities of Canada and America. The journey resulted in the release of his first EP, the critically acclaimed Back to the Great Lakes, and won a following that includes such notable talents as Damon Gough and John Bramwell.

Opening the show is Robbie Cavanagh. The Manchester singer-songwriter’s debut record The State of Maine is out now.

This intimate acoustic show takes place in Manchester Jewish Museum. The museum is located in a former Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue on Cheetham Hill Road. It is the only Jewish museum outside London and is housed in the oldest surviving synagogue building in Manchester, completed in 1874. It is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, executed in Moorish style. Click here for directions and transport links.
