When: 8pm on Wednesday 4 June
Where: Dulcimer, 567 Wilbraham road, Chorlton-cum-hardy, Manchester M21 0AE
Vetiver return to Manchester following last year’s sell-out headlining debut. They’re here this time to promote a new covers album, released on 15 May on FatCat Records.
The often-bandmates of Devendra Banhart veer between the twang of the Flying Burrito Brothers, the psychedelic space-rock of the Grateful Dead and the rootsy swagger of the Band and features the great songwriting of the immensely talented Andy Cabic.
The band is named after the grass, vetiver. Their music has been described as ’surreal’, ‘lullingly pleasant’, ‘tender and accessible’ and ‘quirky and warm’.
Support comes in the form of North Carolina’s Birds of Avalon, plus Manchester’s own psychedelic folksters the Travelling Band – winners of this year’s Glastonbury New Talent competition.
PLEASE NOTE: This show will now take place at Dulcimer, the bar for ‘fine ales and finer folk’ in Chorlton (85 or 86 buses from the city centre).
Tickets are £9 adv from www.wegottickets.com, www.ticketline.co.uk, www.seetickets.com, Piccadilly Box Office (easyInternetCafe, St Annes Square) and on 0161 832 1111.
