When: 4pm-11.00pm on Sunday 4 May 2008
Where: The Salform Arms, and elsewhere on or near Chapel Street, Salford
Hey! Manchester is proud to have been invited to be part of this year’s Sounds From The Other City. Now in its fourth year, this one-day festival celebrates Salford – Manchester’s city-within-a-city – as a great music venue and all-round fun place to be.
SFTOC invites local promoters (this year, ourselves, Lamb & Wolf, Contort Yourself, Golden Lab, Club Brenda, Up the Racket, Red Deer Club, Prostitutes and Policemen, Bring on the Dancing Horses, and Comfortable on a Tightrope) to each set up a stage in pubs and churches along Chapel Street. We, in turn, invite some of our favourite acts to perform in a showcase of sorts.
Hey! Manchester’s stage – upstairs at the Salford Arms – so far features David Thomas Broughton, Last Harbour, Vinny Peculiar, the Declining Winter, the Bottomfeeders and Planet Earth – with two or three more to be confirmed soon. You can watch bands on all eight stages with a single ticket, available now from Quaytickets.com. Oh, and it’s on a Bank Holiday Sunday, so you can stay out late at the aftershow party at Islington Mill.
