When: 7pm on Friday 19 November 2021
Where: Gorilla, 54-56 Whitworth Street West, Manchester M1 5WW
We’re delighted to be welcoming Skinny Lister back to Gorilla – with guests The Longest Johns!
As folk rock’s rowdiest rabble since 2009, Skinny Lister have reeled and partied into the hearts of America, the UK, Germany and Japan. Passing the growing flagon of their experiences with every album and tour, they’ve led an endless parade gathering fans old and new, from the respected folk circuit to the riotous Download Festival, igniting pogoing mosh-pits at each.
Over the past ten years they’ve travelled from rain-soaked London to the vast arteries of the USA, upgrading from narrow boat to Salty Dog Cruise, played huge tours across Europe and North America with Frank Turner, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly as well as headlining themselves across festivals, sweatboxes and ever-larger venues.
With four albums under their belt – Forge & Flagon, Down on Deptford Broadway, The Devil, the Heart & the Fight and The Story Is… – the band have explored a lexicon of tastes through a whirlwind of adventures across the globe.
Special guests are The Longest Johns. You doubt any of Bristol’s The Longest Johns ever imagined they would be able to get so far on just four voices. Born out of a mutual love of traditional folk songs and shanties, they rock maritime songs alongside the more unusual and less traditional folk tunes. In a few short years they have gone from singing sea shanties in a kitchen to international folk festivals, tours, TV appearances and gained a huge online following. As the face of the 2021 sea shanty revival with their track Wellerman, the Johns are reaching millions of new fans all across the globe and showing them just how great these songs can be.
This is a 14+ show. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
We have been able to release a small number of tickets – book now.
