When: 7.30pm on Monday 18 April 2011
Where: The Castle Hotel, 66 Oldham Street, Manchester M4 1LE
Our third outing at The Castle Hotel will feature one of Manchester’s rising stars, Sara Lowes!
Sara Lowes has developed a great reputation touring as a session musician with artists including King Creosote, The Earlies and Jim Noir. She is involved in some other exciting collaborations this spring, while last year’s Red Deer Club EP, The Single Girl, achieved some great press and radio support from the likes of Marc Riley.
‘Boasting five tracks of genre-leaping splendour – imagine Broadcast producing Roisin Murphy while Feist sprinkles over melodic fairy-dust – Lowes conjures up a beguiling tapestry of jazz-tinged pop-tronica, rich with warmth, idiosyncrasy and delirious pop sensibility’ – CityLife
Sara’s live shows feature a unique mix of live drums, loops, midi bass, keys, guitar and trombone.
Support comes in the form of Tawse, a Manchester-based band made up of Irish, Welsh, Scottish and English folk. They met at the RNCM and have only recently started playing together and recording their first EP, which you can hear on Soundcloud. We’d compare them to Fanfarlo, The Frames and Sodastream.
Tickets are available from the bar, Common (both no booking fee), Piccadilly Records, Seetickets.com, WeGotTickets.com and on 0871 220 0260.
