We’re delighted to be presenting an intimate show with Kiran Leonard and his band!
Musical polymath Kiran Leonard embarks on a second tour supporting his album Western Culture, released in 2018 by Moshi Moshi Records. Western Culture is Leonard’s first album recorded with a full band in a studio, following a string of DIY releases recorded at home in Greater Manchester. It was recorded with immensely talented bandmates Dan Bridgwood Hill (dbh), Dave Rowe (Plank) and staple of the improv circuit Andrew Cheetham.

Leonard’s music draws together influences as diverse as US Maple, Sufjan Stevens, Frank Zappa and Kate Bush. As strong an example of his musical versatility as any, Western Culture marks a departure from 2017’s Derevaun Seraun, an album of five compositions for strings, piano and voice, and a return to the angular and frenetic post-punk of 2016’s Grapefruit.
Formerly a staple of his hometown’s experimental rock scene alongside the likes of Duds, Irma Vep and Aldous RH, Leonard recently relocated to South London, where he has teamed up with ‘morbid noise’ label Memorials Of Distinction to release his collaborative record with Catalan artist Andreu G. Serra as Or Sobre Blau.
