We’re delighted to be working with Joan Shelley for the first time!

Joan-Shelley-Castle-Manchester

Louisville songwriter Joan Shelley will tour the UK and Europe this spring in support of her third LP, Over and Even. Shelley recorded the album over a weekend last winter in her home state of Kentucky with help from Rachel Grimes, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and guitarist Nathan Salsburg. Salsburg will accompany Shelley at all shows on this tour, where they will perform as a duo.

Over and Even was given four stars in Rolling Stone magazine, which called it ‘a masterfully turned set of folk reflections’. It was one of NPR Music’s top albums of 2015 and has been recognised by the BBC’s Gideon Coe, Ricky Ross and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show. Uncut Magazine called the album ‘profound’ in its 9/10 review upon its release in September, stating that Shelley is a ‘major talent’, while Martin Chilton wrote in The Telegraph: ‘Joan Shelley has a rich voice that ebbs and flows, and brings out the deftest emotions of her strikingly well-written songs… the result is terrific.’

Tour support comes from Cornish pysh-folk five-piece Red River Dialect, whose recent album Tender Gold and Gentle Blue gained solid 8/10 and 4/5 reviews across the board.
