We’re delighted to be working with Pop Montreal to present FOXTROTT, Wake Island and L.A. Foster!

Pop-Montreal-Soup-Kitchen-Manchester-2

Come party with some of Quebec’s most exciting rising acts as Canada’s premiere music festival POP Montreal is taking bands on tour for its first ever POP Off Europe!

This tour is headlined in Manchester by FOXTROTT. Marie-Hélène Delorme is a self-taught singer, songwriter, producer and beat-maker from French-speaking Montreal. She started out releasing remixes and supplying beats for other local talents, before breaking cover as FOXTROTT with her 2012 debut, Shields, an emotionally arresting three-track EP. Her debut album, A Taller Us, was recently released to critical acclaim.

Support comes from Wake Island. Wake Island are an electronic duo formed by Lebanese musicians Philippe Manasseh and Nadim Maghzal, based in Montreal and New York City. The band fearlessly blends electronic dance music with indie rock songwriting to create a positive, uplifting experience. Their new album OUT, released 30 April via Oh Hi (an artist collective they formed), was mostly self-recorded in isolated cabins across the Quebec Eastern Townships and mixed at Montreal’s Breakglass Studios with Jace Lasek (Suuns, Wolf Parade, The Besnard Lakes).

Completing this triple-bill is L.A. Foster. Edmonton-born singer-songwriter L.A. FOSTER has spent much of the past ten years dividing her time between Montreal and Buenos Aires as a performer, DJ and radio host. She also served time as a member of Montreal’s Karneef, and was also the second vocalist in Mozart’s Sister. However, 2015 was the first time that Foster released music under her own name. The EP, Saudade, blends influences from her travels with elements of cumbia and reggaeton, brushing up against early 90s soul and house. The EP also saw Foster collaborate with Stephen Ramsay of Young Galaxy, who handled production duties.

This show is presented in collaboration with Pop Montreal.
