We’re delighted to be working with Euros Childs!
Euros Childs is a solo artist hailing from Pembrokeshire, Wales. He has released eight solo albums to date – the latest of which, Situation Comedy, is out in October. He also fronted the band Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci from 1991 until their demise in 2004.
Euros is also a keen collaborator, having released albums as Jonny with Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake in 2011, and as Cousins with former Race Horses singer Meilyr Jones in 2012.
This year has seen Euros team up with Laura J Martin, Sweet Baboo, Megan Childs, R. Seiliog and H. Hawkline for an album under the name of Short & Curlies. Their LP, At The Dance, was released on Euros’ National Elf label earlier this year.
When asked by taxi drivers or distant relatives what kind of music he plays Euros replies: ‘It’s pop music with a bit of folk music thrown in, sometimes synthesisers are used, sometimes pianos or guitars. But it’s always rock n roll.’
Main support comes from Liverpool’s Laura J Martin whose influences ricochet between Serge Gainsbourg, Wu Tang Clan, David Bowie and Herbie Mann. In January 2012 Laura released her eagerly anticipated debut album The Hangman Tree on Static Caravan as well as the EP Bonus Skor, a collaborative project she did in Iceland with Mike Lindsay (Tunng). Armed with a flute ready for wrangling, mandolin and a loop station, she sings over her loops and beats. This autumn the follow up album, Dazzle Days, will be released.
Opening the show are The Wellgreen. A blend of sixties songwriting, psychedelia, early power-pop, The Wellgreen swear by vintage-style recording techniques to make their records sound classic and timeless. They strip back the live performances to a completely organic two-piece, powered by their signature two-part harmony.
